Welcome! First up, when you subscribe you’ll get posts sent straight to your inbox - so even if you don’t check in to Substack, you won’t miss out.
TLDR version: The free weekly newsletter about New Zealand wildlife & gardening goes out on Saturdays, the paid members’ newsletter gets a bit more personal and goes out when I have something to say, and there are collections around butterflies, birds, and the Waitaki District as well. Visit the home page to read the archives, and navigate to the top right to search for a specific topic.
Use the headings along the top of the homepage to access each section. All clickable links in posts are in green.
This is a shiny new project right now, so I’m still discovering how it will look and function. I hope you will help shape it too, which you can do through comments on individual posts or replying to emails.
I’ll update this post as Dwindle River Garden develops.
Home - as it says, this is the home page, where you can get the most recent posts and navigate to other sections. Each post is what you’ll get delivered to your inbox (every week for free subscriptions, and twice-weekly for paid subscribers). Think of it like a cross between a blog and a magazine.
Weekly Wildlife - this is the home for the main weekly newsletter, sent out to all subscribers every Saturday morning. It’s shining the spotlight on one creature, plant, or topic. You can read all previous newsletters in this series here.
SHOP - link to my photography shop, with my annual calendar, greeting cards, and photographic prints.
Members✨ - occasionally I’ll share a letter just for paid subscribers, usually digging below the surface and getting a bit more personal.
The Butterfly Garden🦋 - one of my passion projects is a butterfly garden (though, let’s be honest, my whole garden is for butterflies, really!). This is a mini-series that will ebb and flow as the butterflies do. You’ll find photos and updates about my own butterfly garden, advice for yours, and you’ll learn about the butterflies (and moths) of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Ngā Manu🦅 - another mini-series sharing the manu (birds) of my garden, and sometimes a bit further afield. We’re so blessed in Aotearoa to have some unique species and I love learning about their lives and stories.
Explore Waitaki🏔 - in 2019 my husband and I moved to the Waitaki, a small district that straddles both Canterbury and Otago regions in Aotearoa’s South Island. As I explore the area myself, I share some of its unique places with you here.
Guest Writers📝 - a new section for posts written by guests. If you have a great idea for a guest post, interview, or collaboration please get in touch.🙏🏽
Archive - is where you’ll find all previous newsletters in chronological order.
About - what it says on the packet: a bit about the newsletter, and a bit about me.
You always have the option to pick and choose which sections you subscribe to. Follow the instructions here.
