Mōrena e hoa; good morning my friend.
I haven't spent much time in the garden this week as I've been a bit under the weather (lots of bugs going around this winter!) but I hope to go out today to do my bit for manu with the NZ Garden Bird Survey. I can see the sun outside the window so with a few layers and a flask of tea it should be a really lovely hour!
We've had the pleasure of late-start dawn chorus with sunrise around 8:00am these days. With winter solstice (the shortest day of the year) now been and gone we can look forward to more daylight hours soon.
While we haven’t gotten into the thick of winter yet, I feel like I almost ready to start looking ahead to the spring season. Matariki, the Māori new year, is coming up soon, so in a way it is quite an appropriate feeling. ✨
So this week, my highlight has been seeing new growth despite the cold weather.
