Hello on this beautiful Wednesday!
Continuing with practical steps to help pÅ«rerehua (butterflies) this I ā¤ Butterflies Week hereās your quick email to celebrate and take care of our little winged friends.
Step One
Have you used iNaturalist before? I started using it as a way to help me identify plants and animals (especially insects and other little critters) that I found in my garden. Itās a fantastic tool, and now I also use it to find out what else I might find in my garden by exploring observations in my area.
Step Two
ā¦ and in the garden, can you plant something this week to feed our caterpillars? As many of us know, butterflies lay eggs on specific host plants for their caterpillars to eat - like milkweed for monarchs, stinging nettle for admirals, and clover for blues.
I hope you are enjoying I ā¤ Butterflies Week with me and looking forward to the Big Butterfly Count this weekend.š¦
